Target group and Study focus

The international master’s degree programme trains students in the foundations and applications of sport and exercise psychology in elite, recreational and health sports. The programme opens up career opportunities in a variety of sport-relevant contexts (e.g., sport clubs, sport federations, schools, companies) and with a wide range of stakeholders (e.g., athletes, coaches, officials). Students have the opportunity to complete a semester abroad, with the option of a double master’s degree or an internship.

Students become qualified for national and international, research-related work in the field of sport and exercise psychology in:

  • Educational institutions (e.g., schools, academies, universities)

  • Clubs and associations (e.g., competitive, recreational, healthcare and rehabilitation sports)

  • Social and commercial enterprises (e.g., human resources management, occupational health)

  • Public service (e.g., community, city, government departments

  • Health-related institutions (e.g., health insurance companies).

 

 

Entry Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in sport science, psychology or a related subject (e.g., kinesiology)

  • Knowledge of English at C1 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, or equivalent

  • Letter of motivation

  • Proof of scientific research experience (if applicable)

  • Proof of practical experience in the field of sport and/or (sport) psychology (if applicable)

  • Proof of periods abroad (if applicable).

Each year you can apply online for the Master Sport and Exercise Psychology at Leipzig University. All applicants have to apply through our online application portal which is only available during the application period (registration closes on May 31st). After registration via the online application portal the following documents have to be uploaded to the portal:  Study diploma and diploma supplement/transcript of records, proof of language skills, curriculum vita, motivational letter, if applicable: proof of scientific experience, proof practical experience in the field of sport and/or (sport) psychology, proof of work periods abroad.

 

Please note: No applications will be accepted after the deadline has passed!

Please note: Applicants to the MSc programme require a bachelor’s degree with at least 60 credit points (ECTS) in sport science, psychology, research methodology, or a combination thereof. You will also need to provide evidence of English language proficiency at level C1. If proof of English at the C1 level is not available by the application deadline, you can hand it in by July 15th at the latest.
