Target group and Study focus:

The official master's degree in Psychology of Sport and Physical Activity aims to meet the expectations of a socially relevant area such as sports and physical exercise, which in the past decades has become consolidated as a research and application field in psychology. On the one hand, the objective of the psychology of sports is to improve the performance and well-being of athletes by teaching psychological techniques and strategies and working on an indirect intervention by offering assessments to families, trainers, and directors so that athletes can experience better development and performance at a personal level. On the other, the psychology of physical activity helps professionals in health sciences and physical activity to establish an active lifestyle for the population in general, thus improving their quality of life and preventing sedentariness.

The master's degree's fundamental objective is to provide students with the skills and competencies needed to conduct research, evaluations, and interventions in the field of psychology of sport and physical activity, always from a professional perspective accredited by the degree previously obtained by the student.​

Entry Requirements

Access to this master's degree is open to holders of an official bachelor's degree from a Spanish university or from another higher education institution within or outside the European Higher Education Area, provided this gives access to postgraduate studies in the country of issue.

Students should hold one of the following university qualifications:

  • Degree in Psychology and in Sciences of Physical Activity and Sport, or equivalent.

  • Degree in Health Sciences in Education Sciences. The coordinators of the master’s degree will review the academic file of such students, to determine if they have to undertake bridging courses, which will be chosen from a list of subjects detailed below.

 

Knowledge of English at level B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages of the European Council is required. In the event that a student does not hold a document accrediting such level, the student may request a comprehension and expression test from the master’s degree committee.
